Winter to Spring Transition

Recently it has been warm. And when I say warm, I'm 100% serious. Last week, there was still lots of snow on the ground, but this week has been crazily warm. With the weather ranging from low forties to even high sixties, I've been breaking out the spring clothing. In the process, I've come to the realization that I don't have as many nice spring clothes as I thought. There was one day that I was looking for a nice casual dress to wear to school, but then I realized that my dresses were all a little too summery or too dressy for casual wear. However, I ended up wearing this outfit instead!

If I'm completely honest, this look has kind of a fall vibe, but I have no shame with the fall colors. I feel like it's probably a bit too early to break out the bright spring colors, and the darker, more autumnal colors characterize this transition from winter to spring, plus I just had to work with the abundance of winter and fall clothes that I have. For some reason, I have a lot of clothes for every season except spring. I'll have to change that ASAP.

Recently, I've been wearing this chambray button down all the time. I wish that I had discovered my love for chambray button downs earlier, because it goes with practically anything and can be dressed down or dressed up. In this case, I've done a little of both in this dressy, yet still casual look. I've paired this chambray button down from Old Navy with an amber skater skirt from Forever 21. (similar here) As aforementioned, the shirt goes with so many things, this skirt included. It adds up for a simple look with solid colors instead of bold patterns. The skirt does the job of dressing up the look and the shirt tones it down so that it's not too over the top for a casual look.

I also wore a pair of tights, mostly because I was a little cautious about the weather, since I had been living in the cold winter weather for months and wasn't quite ready to dive right in and hope that it was warm enough to do without them. However, it ended up being too warm (what?!) for the tights, so I ended up taking them off. I was also originally wearing a sweater, but surprise, it was too warm for that as well. I think that when you stop needing a sweater, it's a sure sign that spring is on its way, if not, already here.

I got these lace-up flats from Steve Madden a while ago. These are the "LeCrew" flats in burgundy and they're also suede! These shoes seem to make any outfit classy and chic and are so reminiscent of ballet shoes because of the lace-up style. I'll be blunt and say that they're a little uncomfortable for walking a lot or for long periods of time, since my feet just aren't meant to wear pointy toed shoes, but for short periods of time or not much walking, these are super nice for dressing up a look. It's like people say, "These shoes are made for walking." Well, these shoes aren't.
